ACCOUNT MANAGER -- Plans and manages bulk mailings such as municipal utility bills. The mailings utilize variable data, meaning a computer database file, constructed by the client, controls the printing, compilation, and ultimately the delivery of the mail pieces. Responsible for the correct printing and mailing of 10,000 mail pieces a week. A matrix management system is used: supervisory functions over the high-speed printer operators, computer programmers, and machine operators is shared between three account managers. Also managed the Internet payment function wherein municipal residents paid water bills online.

Lansing Community News, Lansing, MI -- June 2002 to July 2005
REPORTER -- Besides writing and photographing news events for a 12,000-circulation, weekly community newspaper in the Gannett chain, performed layout and copy editing duties. A copy editor is the final editorial staff member to approve newspaper pages before going to print. As a staff writer and photographer, content appeared in both the print and Internet editions of the newspaper.

WEB SITE TECHNICIAN -- Constructed HTML web pages. The website unit was a department within the publishing division; responsible for the accurate and on-time conversion, every month, of editorial content from print to web. Unix used here. Copy-editing when needed. Programmed the online payment module. Additionally, at the education portal, served as web liaison to over 100 student chapters; monitored Listserv (email list manager) and instructed the student engineers in HTML, FTP, and correct webmaster duties as they, in turn, managed the student website (chapters.sme.org) at their local college chapter.
